Luxury Nomadic Designs
During Milan Design Week, a prominent fashion house unveiled its latest collection of travel-inspired, portable furniture called Objets Nomades. Housed
within the opulent Palazzo Serbelloni, this showcase expanded upon the brand's signature travel trunks, transforming them into elegant storage solutions and even functional closet spaces with integrated mirrors. A distinctive armchair, a beloved piece from the collection, was reimagined with a fringed exterior, a design nod to the brand's contemporary fashion creations. This exhibition celebrated the fusion of artisanal craftsmanship with functional, high-end design, demonstrating a commitment to creating pieces that are both aesthetically pleasing and adaptable for a nomadic lifestyle.
Tribute to Design Pioneer
For its inaugural appearance at Milan Design Week, a renowned hospitality group paid homage to the influential Italian designer Andrea Branzi. The exhibition, titled "Objects that Speak: A Conversation Continued with Andrea Branzi," was thoughtfully curated by a former director of a major design museum. It featured Branzi's iconic tall lamps, crafted with a distinctive combination of Japanese rice paper and Belgian bluestone, set against a backdrop of lush greenery. Accompanying these were carefully selected artworks from various hospitality properties, including a striking bronze sculpture and a sophisticated marble pet carrier. This presentation served as a thoughtful exploration of Branzi's legacy and his significant contributions to the design world.
Architectural Automotive Exhibit
At the Portrait Milano hotel, an automotive brand collaborated with a renowned architectural firm to present a striking installation. Occupying the hotel's historic piazza, the pavilion, named "Origin," was conceived to embody the automotive brand's forward-thinking ethos. Constructed from matte titanium, this sculptural form gently floated above a serene reflecting pool, inviting visitors to walk through its looping structure for a moment of immersive reflection. The pavilion's fluid, asymmetric design created a dynamic visual contrast against the traditional Renaissance architecture surrounding it, highlighting a modern interpretation of space and form.
Elegant Milanese Gathering
Amidst the bustling design events, a celebrated hospitality designer hosted an intimate gathering in the serene courtyard of the Four Seasons Hotel Milano. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped greenery and eye-catching outdoor furnishings, guests, including industry peers and friends, shared their experiences from the week's events. The atmosphere was convivial, with classic Italian aperitifs served from a mobile bar, setting the stage for a relaxed evening of conversation. This event provided a moment of sophisticated respite, allowing attendees to connect and unwind before continuing their engagement with the city's vibrant design scene.
