In a pioneering move for the region, a specially equipped freight train carrying essential dairy products has successfully reached Jammu and Kashmir from
Gujarat. This event represents a crucial advancement in bulk dairy transportation via the railway network, establishing a novel supply channel designed to enhance the consistency and dependability of food item deliveries within the Union Territory. The train was outfitted with state-of-the-art refrigerated containers, a vital feature ensuring that the quality and freshness of the milk and other dairy items were meticulously preserved throughout their journey, preventing any spoilage and guaranteeing that the products arrived in optimal condition.
Unprecedented Consignment Details
This landmark freight service comprised a total of 20 BCN wagons, which were loaded with an extensive array of dairy items sourced from the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation. The train embarked on its journey from the Linch Goods Shed, situated within the Ahmedabad Division, on April 20th. Its destination involved two primary unloading points in the Jammu Division: the goods sheds at Bari Brahman and Anantnag. Railway officials confirmed that the 1,000-tonne consignment was evenly distributed, with 10 wagons each unloaded at these two key locations. The diverse range of products included vital items such as toned milk, milk powder, buttermilk, lassi, and other fundamental dairy essentials, ensuring a broad supply to meet consumer needs.
