For the upcoming financial year, specifically 2026-27, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has officially announced an adjustment to the annual
pass fee associated with FASTag usage. Commencing on April 1, 2026, the cost of this annual pass will see a minor increase, moving from its current rate of INR 3,000 to INR 3,075. This revision aligns with the established National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules from 2008, which provide the framework for setting and collecting toll charges on the nation's highways. This update ensures that the fee structure remains consistent with the regulatory guidelines governing toll collection mechanisms across the country.
Pass Benefits & Scope
The FASTag Annual Pass is designed to significantly enhance the travel experience for eligible non-commercial vehicles equipped with a valid FASTag. This pass provides unlimited access to approximately 1,150 toll plazas situated on India's extensive network of national highways and expressways for a period of one full year, or up to 200 toll crossings, whichever condition is met first. This system allows for a one-time payment that covers a substantial amount of highway travel, making it a highly convenient and economical option for frequent users. The pass has garnered immense popularity, with over 56 lakh users already benefiting from this seamless and cost-effective travel solution since its introduction.
Activation and Eligibility
To take advantage of the FASTag Annual Pass, eligible vehicle owners need to ensure they have a functional FASTag affixed to their vehicle. This pass is specifically tailored for non-commercial vehicles, including cars, jeeps, and vans, that are registered and possess a valid FASTag. The activation process is streamlined and can be initiated by making the required payment either through the dedicated Rajmarg Yatra mobile application or by visiting the official website of the National Highways Authority of India. Once the payment is successfully processed, the annual pass benefits are typically activated on the FASTag linked to the vehicle within a two-hour timeframe, enabling hassle-free toll passage.
