Digital Civic Enhancement
The civic administration in Mumbai is implementing innovative digital solutions to streamline operations and improve citizen engagement. A key development
is the creation of an Integrated Law Management System (ILMS) designed to expedite the resolution of ongoing legal cases, reducing bureaucratic delays. For everyday citizen needs, a common dashboard is being established, allowing residents to easily lodge civic complaints and track their progress. This initiative aims to create a more transparent and responsive system for service delivery. Complementing these efforts, a user-friendly WhatsApp chatbot is already in place, providing a convenient channel for citizens to report issues. Furthermore, the city is adopting advanced urban planning tools by developing a comprehensive 3D GIS map of Mumbai, which will be instrumental in visualizing and executing various urban development projects with greater precision and efficiency.
Securing Water Future
Ensuring a robust water supply for Mumbai is a top priority, with significant advancements planned for water infrastructure. A critical project involves the construction of a desalination plant at Manori, which will be capable of treating 200 million liters of potable water daily from saline sources. The capacity of this plant is also slated for expansion to 400 million liters per day, a move that promises a substantial increase in the city's daily water availability, fulfilling a key electoral promise. Alongside this, the sewage operation department is being urged to accelerate the development of seven state-of-the-art Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs). These facilities collectively will have the capacity to recycle 2,464 million liters of water daily, significantly augmenting the overall water supply and promoting water conservation efforts within the metropolitan area.
Accelerating Water Transport
To further bolster Mumbai's water delivery capabilities, the civic authorities are prioritizing the swift completion of vital water conveyance tunnel projects. Specifically, efforts are focused on expediting the construction of tunnels connecting Amar Mahal to Trombay, and from Kasheli to Mulund. These infrastructure upgrades are designed to enhance the capacity of water pipelines, thereby ensuring a more consistent and reliable water supply to all parts of the city. By improving the conveyance network, the project aims to minimize the potential for water loss due to leaks in existing pipelines, contributing to greater water efficiency and ensuring that more of the supplied water reaches consumers effectively.
