Unprecedented Electric Range
The latest iteration of this flagship electric sedan shatters expectations with its remarkable extended driving range. Models are now capable of achieving
up to an incredible 926 kilometers on a single full charge, according to WLTP estimates. This significant leap forward places it among the longest-distance electric vehicles available. For instance, the EQS 450+ variant is cited to reach this extraordinary figure. Other variants also offer substantial journeys, with the EQS 400 providing up to 817 kilometers and the all-wheel-drive EQS 500 4MATIC and EQS 580 4MATIC delivering up to 876 kilometers. These impressive distances are facilitated by an advanced 800V electrical architecture and an updated battery pack, available in both 122kWh and a 112kWh option, which collectively enhance efficiency and extend the vehicle's operational reach between charges.
Lightning-Fast Charging
Beyond its extended range, this electric marvel introduces a paradigm shift in charging speed. Supporting DC fast charging up to an impressive 350kW, drivers can replenish a substantial amount of range in mere minutes. Specifically, a quick 10-minute charging session is sufficient to add up to 320 kilometers of driving range under WLTP conditions, a capability that dramatically reduces range anxiety and enhances convenience. Furthermore, the vehicle introduces bidirectional charging functionality. This innovative feature allows the car to not only draw power but also supply electricity back to external sources, such as a home or the power grid, adding a new dimension of utility and integration for EV owners.
Enhanced Performance Dynamics
The engineering behind this electric sedan extends to significant performance enhancements aimed at optimizing both acceleration and efficiency. A notable addition is the implementation of a two-speed transmission on the rear axle. The initial gear is calibrated to provide rapid acceleration from a standstill, offering a dynamic and responsive driving experience. The second gear, conversely, is optimized for higher speeds, contributing to improved energy efficiency during sustained cruising. Complementing these drivetrain upgrades, regenerative braking has seen a substantial increase in capacity, boosted by 33 percent to reach as high as 385kW. This greater recuperation of energy during deceleration further contributes to the overall driving range and performance efficiency of the vehicle.
Refined Exterior Styling
Visually, the updated sedan maintains its sleek and aerodynamic profile while incorporating subtle yet impactful design refinements. The front fascia now features a striking illuminated Mercedes star, enhancing its premium appeal. The grille has been redesigned with an elegant star pattern, contributing to a more sophisticated look. The headlamps have been upgraded with advanced technology, capable of projecting light over an impressive distance of up to 600 meters, improving nighttime visibility significantly. At the rear, updated lighting elements and a revised bumper complete the refreshed aesthetic, ensuring the vehicle presents a modern and dynamic appearance.
Luxurious Tech-Infused Cabin
Stepping inside, the cabin continues to feature the expansive MBUX Hyperscreen, a seamless integration of three displays under a single glass panel that dominates the dashboard. This advanced system now operates on the new MB.OS software, which supports over-the-air updates for continuous improvement. A new virtual assistant, powered by AI, enhances user interaction and control. For those seeking a novel driving experience, an optional yoke-style steering wheel will be available post-launch, complemented by steer-by-wire technology. Passengers in the rear are treated to an immersive entertainment system with two 13.1-inch screens. Additional comfort and convenience features include a HEPA air filter for superior air quality and heated seatbelts for added warmth.
