Devastating Collapse
A grave incident unfolded on LBS Road in Mulund, Mumbai, on a Saturday afternoon, casting a shadow over ongoing infrastructure development. During construction
activities for the metro line, a significant portion of the elevated bridge's parapet wall gave way. This falling debris, estimated to be approximately 6 feet by 4 feet, tragically landed on a Maruti Suzuki Swift car and an auto-rickshaw that were passing by. The impact was immediate and severe, leading to a critical situation on the busy road and causing panic among onlookers and commuters.
Victims and Response
The collapse tragically resulted in the loss of one life, identified as Ramadhan Yadav, who was pronounced dead after being rushed to a hospital. In addition to the fatality, three other individuals sustained injuries: Rajkumar Yadav, aged 45; Mahendra Yadav, aged 52; and Deepa Ruhiya, aged 40. Emergency services, including the Mumbai fire brigade, metro construction personnel, and local ward officials, were swiftly dispatched to the scene to manage the situation, provide aid to the injured, and secure the area. The newly elected Mumbai Mayor, Ritu Tawde, also made her way to the site to assess the damage and coordinate relief efforts.
