A Welcoming Living Area
Shakti Mohan's Mumbai home immediately envelops visitors in a sense of warmth, beginning with its inviting living space. This area is thoughtfully arranged
with plush, traditionally styled cabriole sofas in earthy brown hues, creating a cozy atmosphere perfect for relaxation and entertainment. Positioned strategically, a large television is easily viewable from these comfortable seats, ensuring everyone can enjoy their favorite programs. Complementing the seating is a charming vintage table at the center, adorned with greenery, a practical napkin holder, and condiment containers, adding a touch of everyday usability. The décor is further enhanced by a prominent Buddha artwork and smaller statues placed in each corner, infusing the space with a sense of peace and spirituality. A cherished photo frame showcasing Shakti's sister Neeti and her husband Nihar Pandya is proudly displayed on the TV cabinet, a subtle yet poignant reminder of family bonds. Behind the sofa, another glass-topped table featuring intricate wooden accents lends a classic, sophisticated feel to the room. This living area, designed with a keen eye for Indian artistic patterns by Shakti's parents, serves as a repository of countless cherished memories from shared family moments.
Elegant Dining Space
Adjacent to the living area, the dining space in Shakti Mohan's home is designed to accommodate her extended family, which numbers eight members including her brothers-in-law. This area features a minimalist aesthetic, centered around a sleek glass-topped dining table supported by a sturdy wooden base. The accompanying chairs are upholstered in neutral tones and have elegant wooden legs, contributing to the room's refined yet comfortable ambiance. Adding a rich cultural touch, the walls are decorated with wooden frames boasting intricate carvings of traditional Indian patterns. These are further embellished with vibrantly colored wall hangings, injecting life and personality into the space. Shakti fondly recalls the many meals shared at this table, humorously noting that her sisters often partook in more feasting than she did, highlighting the lively family gatherings that have taken place here.
Shakti's Personal Retreat
Ascending to the first floor reveals Shakti Mohan's personal domain, a bedroom that masterfully blends minimalist design with a focus on comfort. The room is characterized by clean lines, featuring a sleek white wardrobe and accompanying cabinets that offer ample storage, with a selection of books neatly arranged on them. A dedicated television area includes a table cluttered with various personal items and a comfortable sofa placed alongside, creating a private viewing nook. What truly elevates this space is its direct access to a beautiful balcony, offering a scenic and tranquil view. This room, Shakti shared, was originally hers before she moved out, and it has since been thoughtfully occupied by her father, symbolizing a harmonious intergenerational living arrangement within the family home.
The Lush Terrace Garden
The undeniable crown jewel of Shakti Mohan's residence is her expansive terrace garden, affectionately nicknamed 'Mohan Bagaan.' This verdant paradise hosts an astonishing collection of over 400 plants, transforming the rooftop into a serene sanctuary. The diverse flora ranges from vibrant purple bougainvillea cascading with color to a productive chiku tree, alongside a multitude of other shrubs and plants. This meticulously curated space provides an idyllic setting for quiet contemplation, meditation, and profound relaxation. Shakti once recounted a rather startling experience in her garden where, while practicing savasana, she was nearly accosted by vultures and eagles. Mistaking her stillness for a lifeless state, the birds began to circle, prompting Shakti to quickly rise and shoo them away with her yoga mat, an anecdote that adds a touch of wild wonder to her otherwise peaceful haven. The therapeutic benefits of such an extensive garden are significant, offering a powerful antidote to daily stress and contributing to mental well-being through its connection with nature.
