Ghalibaf Condemns Threats
Iran's Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has voiced strong disapproval of US President Donald Trump's recent pronouncements directed at Tehran.
Ghalibaf characterized Trump's statements as reckless escalations that risk plunging the United States into a dire situation. He articulated his views on the social media platform X, asserting that Trump's "reckless moves" are not only jeopardizing the stability of the West Asian region but are also dragging American families into a "living hell." The speaker further alleged that these aggressive actions by the US are primarily designed to benefit Israeli interests, suggesting that Trump is acting on behalf of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Ghalibaf explicitly stated that Trump would "burn the Gulf region at Netanyahu's command" and warned that such war crimes would yield no positive outcomes. He emphasized that the sole viable resolution lies in respecting the rights of the Iranian people and ceasing these volatile maneuvers.
Trump's Demands and Warnings
These sharp condemnations from Ghalibaf follow a series of direct and unusually forceful warnings issued by President Trump himself. Trump had previously issued a stern ultimatum to Iran, threatening significant strikes on crucial Iranian infrastructure if the nation failed to comply with certain demands. A primary demand from the US President involved the reopening of the vital Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil transit, amidst the heightened tensions in West Asia. Trump's message, delivered with uncharacteristic vehemence on X, indicated that "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran." He vowed that the consequences for non-compliance would be unprecedented and likened the outcome to "living in Hell." The US President's post clearly outlined a deadline for Iran to either "make a deal" or "open the Strait," suggesting that by Tuesday, Washington would conclude actions targeting Iran's energy and civil infrastructure.
