Passenger's Alarming Experience
A passenger named Ayushi Singh, traveling on Vande Bharat Express train number 22500 in coach E1 on March 27, recounted a distressing incident on social
media. She reported experiencing a severe allergic reaction after consuming the food provided during her journey. Adding to the distress, her two-year-old son also became unwell with diarrhea, which she attributed to the same meal. Ms. Singh shared her concerns, deeming the situation serious and advocating for immediate action. To substantiate her claims, she accompanied her post with photographic evidence and a medical prescription from Maa Ram Pyaari Superspeciality Hospital in Ranchi, detailing the allergic reaction.
Concerns Over Food Quality
Ayushi Singh expressed profound disappointment not only with the food served but also with the subsequent handling of her complaint by the train staff. She explicitly stated, 'Worst quality food provided on Vande Bharat Express and insensitive attitude of staff towards complaints.' Her concerns extended beyond the allergic reaction, as she also noted a peculiar taste in the water served, raising serious questions about the overall hygiene protocols followed onboard. The passenger's account has brought into focus the critical aspects of food safety and customer service expected on premium train services like the Vande Bharat Express, prompting a broader conversation among travelers.
IRCTC's Official Response
In response to the widely shared post, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) issued a statement addressing the passenger's allegations. They reported that a thorough check of the lunch served on Train No. 22500 (BSB-DGHR Vande Bharat Express), specifically in Coach E1 on March 27, 2026, was conducted and found to be satisfactory. The IRCTC further stated that no other complaints regarding the quality, hygiene, or safety of the food served on that particular day were received from any other passengers. This official statement suggests a discrepancy between the individual passenger's experience and the general feedback received by the railway authorities on the day in question.
