The term 'affordable' takes on a tangible meaning at the UDAN Yatri Café, especially within the context of an airport environment. Travelers can now purchase a steaming cup of chai for an astonishingly low price of just ₹10, a price point previously unimaginable inside an airport. For those who prefer coffee, a cup is available for ₹20. The affordability extends beyond beverages; a piping hot samosa can be bought for ₹20, with sweet treats also offered at the same accessible price. This pricing strategy represents a radical departure from conventional airport concessions, effectively bringing the cost-effectiveness often associated with street vendors directly to the passenger's doorstep, right before boarding.

This initiative is far from a limited test run; the UDAN Yatri Cafés are already operational across a substantial network of 24 airports throughout India. Their presence spans major metropolitan hubs, including Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad, alongside bustling regional centers such as Jaipur, Lucknow, Pune, and Ahmedabad. Furthermore, travelers passing through Amritsar, Chandigarh, and Jammu will also find these affordable eateries. In the southern region, cities like Mangaluru, Trivandrum, and Coimbatore have also integrated these cafés. The extensive network continues with outlets in Agartala, Gwalior, Varanasi, Indore, Patna, Rajkot, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Hollongi, and Vijayawada, ensuring a broad reach for travelers nationwide.

The genesis of this initiative can be traced back to the government's visionary Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN), launched in 2016 with the fundamental aim of making air travel accessible to the common citizen.
