A Sanctuary of Calm
Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha have unveiled a meticulously crafted nursery for their son, Neer, a space envisioned as a haven of peace and tranquility.
The couple, welcoming their baby boy in September 2023, shared glimpses of this beautifully decorated room, designed to exude a sense of calm and zen energy. The colour palette is deliberately soothing, featuring a harmonious blend of whites, creams, and soft blues, intended to create a relaxing environment for their little one. At the heart of the room is a custom-made crib, elegantly adorned with delicate mobiles, drawing the eye and setting a gentle tone. The walls are thoughtfully decorated with charming animal-themed artwork and personalised nameplates, adding a touch of whimsy and personal connection. The inclusion of soft, ambient lighting and plush rugs further enhances the cosy and inviting atmosphere. This space isn't just visually appealing; it also prioritizes functionality, featuring a comfortable rocking chair perfect for feeding and quiet moments, alongside ample storage solutions to keep toys and essentials neatly organised. The overall design successfully merges contemporary aesthetics with playful, youthful charm, establishing a perfect sanctuary for baby Neer.
Classic Gentleman Vibes
The vision for Neer's nursery was a blend of classic design and a refined 'gentlemanly' aesthetic, as described by Parineeti Chopra. She explained that they aimed for a British-inspired feel, incorporating elegant panelling on the light-colored walls to achieve this sophisticated look. Even though Neer is a baby, the couple saw him as a 'little gentleman' and wanted the nursery to reflect that aspiration. Drawing inspiration from Ralph Lauren-style nurseries, known for their timeless elegance suitable for any child, they sought to infuse elements that represented their family's distinct taste. A standout piece contributing to this classic feel is a vintage Persian-inspired carpet, chosen for its unique, polished appearance that sets it apart from typical nursery decor. The decorative choices, from the cot mobile featuring stripes, spots, and animals in muted tones, to the selection of vintage car artwork rather than generic modern designs, all contribute to an atmosphere of understated luxury and timeless style. This deliberate curation ensures the nursery feels both age-appropriate and sophisticated, aligning with the couple's refined sensibilities.
Thoughtful Details & Transformation
Every element within Neer's nursery has been chosen with meticulous care, focusing on subtle and calming hues to maintain the room's serene ambiance. Even the cot mobile, a common nursery feature, is adorned with animals and patterns in classic, non-vibrant colours. Parineeti's choice for artwork leaned towards vintage automobiles, a nod to a boy's typical interest but elevated with historical significance, representing the earliest forms of transportation. A particularly striking feature is the custom-made wardrobe, distinguished by its rounded design and intricate rattan detailing. Both Parineeti and Raghav express a strong affinity for rattan, a material they've incorporated throughout their home due to its warm, beige tones and abstract aesthetic. Raghav Chadha shared that the nursery was once his functional study, a space where he would prepare for parliamentary sessions, read files, and write speeches. He expressed immense happiness at its transformation into a 'beautiful heavenly sanctuary' for their son, acknowledging Parineeti's design prowess. His ultimate wish for the room is that it serves as a complete escape from daily worries, a dedicated space for focused time with the baby and personal reflection.
