Indian Carriers Operate
On March 31, Indian airlines IndiGo and Air India Group continued to facilitate essential air travel between India and the UAE, including services to Dubai
Airports. IndiGo specifically issued a travel advisory to its passengers, assuring them of its commitment to reaching destinations during challenging times. This advisory included a list of flights scheduled for that day across the Middle East and encouraged passengers to regularly check their flight status online. The airline emphasized that its teams were working diligently to provide necessary support and thanked customers for their patience and continued trust. Passengers were also reminded to adhere to all safety and regulatory guidelines. In parallel, Air India and its subsidiary Air India Express jointly announced their plan to operate a total of 36 scheduled and non-scheduled flights connecting the West Asia region on the same date, underscoring their dedication to maintaining connectivity.
Global Airline Updates
Beyond Indian carriers, several prominent international airlines also released crucial travel advisories concerning operations to and from Dubai. Dutch carrier KLM announced it would suspend flights to and from Dubai until May 17. Lufthansa indicated that due to flight number reductions at both Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), Lufthansa, SWISS, ITA Airways, and Austrian Airlines have halted services to Dubai until at least May 31. Qatar Airways, while resuming a limited flight schedule, offered flexibility for passengers with bookings between February 28 and April 30, providing options for two complimentary date changes up to May 31 or a refund for unused ticket value. Turkish Airlines maintained its suspension of all flights to the UAE until the end of March, and British Airways confirmed cancellations of all its flights to Dubai, Amman, Bahrain, and Tel Aviv up to and including May 31. These advisories reflect the ongoing adjustments in air travel amidst regional circumstances.
Traveler Guidance
In light of these evolving flight schedules and advisories, travelers heading to Dubai or departing from it were urged to take specific precautions. It was strongly advised to only travel to the airport if flight tickets were confirmed to avoid unnecessary disruption. Maintaining direct communication with airlines was recommended to stay updated on any changes. Passengers were also reminded to be prepared with all necessary travel documentation and to allocate additional time for security checks at the airport. These measures are essential for airlines to maintain vital connections between nations and assist stranded travelers while ensuring adherence to all safety protocols during a period of regional tension and operational adjustments.
