This meter-gauge line runs from Mettupalayam to Ooty, covering 26 kilometers and a steep gradient. The X-class steam locomotives pull the train through tunnels, over bridges, and past tea gardens and dense eucalyptus forests, offering panoramic views of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The journey takes approximately five hours and is a step back in time with its vintage charm. Ticket prices are very reasonable, typically between ₹40 and ₹250, providing an affordable and visually stunning passage to the Queen of Hill Stations, Ooty.
