The decision to suspend toll collection was formally implemented after the Independent Engineer granted a provisional certificate, officially marking the expressway's readiness for public use and its commercial operation date. While the concessionaires, IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd and Adani Infrastructure, are granted toll collection rights for a period of 27 years as per the public-private partnership model, the revenue forgone during this initial toll-free period will be absorbed by the state government or UPEIDA, in accordance with the existing agreement. Importantly, this toll exemption does not imply any compromise on the operational and maintenance standards, ensuring that road safety, traffic management, and public amenities remain at their highest level throughout this period.
