New SUV Arrives
The Indian automotive market is set to welcome the impressive Audi SQ8 performance SUV, with its official launch scheduled for March 17, 2026. Pre-bookings
for this exciting vehicle have already commenced, allowing interested buyers to secure theirs either online or by visiting a nearby Audi dealership. A booking deposit of Rs 5 lakh is required, and customers can anticipate deliveries to commence shortly after the launch. This new entrant will strategically position itself within Audi's premium SUV lineup, sitting precisely between the existing Q8 and the more extreme RS Q8. Its purpose is to bridge the gap, offering a compelling combination of daily drivability and enhanced performance, thus rounding out the Q8 family in India to three distinct variants: the standard Q8, the sporty SQ8, and the top-tier RS Q8. The SQ8 is anticipated to enter the Indian market as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), with an expected price tag starting above Rs 1.6 crore (ex-showroom). This positions it to compete directly with formidable rivals such as the Mercedes-AMG GLE coupe, BMW X5 M60i, Porsche Cayenne, and Maserati Grecale.
V8 Engine Power
At the heart of the Audi SQ8 lies a formidable 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, a powerplant shared with its more aggressive sibling, the RS Q8, albeit tuned for slightly less output. In the SQ8 configuration, this powerhouse unleashes an impressive 507 horsepower and generates a substantial 770 Nm of torque. For context, the RS Q8 boasts a more potent tune, delivering 640 horsepower and 850 Nm. In contrast, the standard Q8 is equipped with a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces a more modest 340 horsepower and 500 Nm. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the SQ8 efficiently channels its potent V8 power to all four wheels, ensuring dynamic and confident handling. Audi claims an exhilarating acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, underscoring its performance credentials.
Sporty Exterior Design
The Audi SQ8 builds upon the sleek coupe-SUV silhouette of the standard Q8, incorporating a range of sport-oriented design enhancements that clearly distinguish it. The front fascia is characterized by a prominent single-frame grille featuring a distinctive honeycomb pattern and darkened accents, exuding a more aggressive stance. Flanking the grille are advanced LED headlamps, each boasting unique daytime running light signatures. The revised front bumper is sculpted for improved aerodynamics, incorporating larger air intakes and sharper detailing. Moving to the side profile, the SUV retains the signature sloping roofline and a wide, planted stance that are hallmarks of the Q8 design. It rides on striking, larger S-specific alloy wheels, further complemented by discrete SQ8 badging on the front fenders. A strong shoulder line elegantly connects the front and rear sections, and certain variants will feature exclusive dark exterior trim, including the mirror caps and window surrounds, amplifying its sporty appeal. At the rear, the SQ8 is instantly recognizable by its full-width LED light bar that spans across the tailgate, adding a modern and distinctive visual element. The rear bumper integrates a diffuser-like element, and the quad exhaust outlets—two on each side—serve as a definitive visual cue of its performance capabilities. A subtle roof-mounted spoiler completes the dynamic and athletic exterior design.
Advanced Interior Features
Inside, the Audi SQ8 is equipped with a state-of-the-art technology suite designed for both driver engagement and passenger comfort. Dominating the dashboard are twin 12.3-inch screens, cleverly integrated to serve as a comprehensive digital instrument cluster and an intuitive infotainment system. Enhancing the auditory experience is a premium Bang & Olufsen sound system. The steering wheel features S-line badging and is designed for sporty grip, while the instrument cluster displays unique S-spec graphics, underscoring the performance orientation. Seamless connectivity is ensured with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, alongside advanced connected car technologies. For climate control, a multi-zone system provides personalized comfort for all occupants. A panoramic sunroof opens up the cabin, creating an airy and spacious feel. The front seats are electrically adjustable and offer heating, ventilation, and massage functions for ultimate relaxation. On the safety front, the SQ8 is comprehensively equipped with multiple airbags, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and traction control. Driver assistance features include park assist, a 360-degree camera for effortless maneuvering, front and rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. ISOFIX child seat mounts are also standard. Furthermore, it is expected to incorporate advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking, enhancing overall safety and driving confidence.
