France Simplifies Transit
Indian citizens embarking on journeys that involve transiting through French airports now benefit from a significant policy change. Previously, many Indian travelers,
particularly those without existing US, UK, or Schengen visas, were required to obtain an Airport Transit Visa (ATV) even for short layovers. However, as of April 10, 2026, this requirement has been completely removed for those remaining within the international transit zone and heading to a non-Schengen country. This streamlined process aims to enhance the travel experience for Indians passing through major hubs like Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly, eliminating a potential bureaucratic hurdle and making transit smoother and more convenient for a multitude of travelers.
Vietnam's Digital Arrival Card
For Indian passport holders planning to travel through Vietnam, a new pre-arrival procedure has been implemented. Effective April 15, the introduction of Vietnam's Digital Arrival Card makes online submission a mandatory step for all foreign nationals transiting through Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Travelers must complete this digital declaration within 72 hours of their arrival. Upon successful submission, a unique QR code will be generated, which is then essential to present at immigration to facilitate a smooth entry process. This digital system aims to expedite passenger processing and enhance border control efficiency.
Thailand Boosts Stay Duration
Thailand has significantly altered its visa policy for Indian nationals, offering an extended period of visa-free entry. Indian passport holders can now enjoy stays of up to 60 days in Thailand without the need for a visa. This is a notable increase from previous allowances. However, travelers intending to extend their stay beyond this 60-day visa-free period will encounter a substantial increase in the associated visa fees. This adjustment, which came into effect on April 27, represents a strategic move to encourage shorter, more frequent visits while potentially increasing revenue from longer-term stays, impacting budget considerations for extended trips.
South Korea Waives Fees
A positive development for Indian travelers is emerging from South Korea, specifically concerning group travel. A processing fee of KRW 18,000, which amounts to approximately Rs 1,155, has been waived for Indian group visas. This beneficial change is exclusively applicable to organized group tours facilitated by recognized travel agencies. To avail this waiver, applications must be submitted collectively for the entire group. This initiative is designed to promote group tourism and make organized travel to South Korea more accessible and cost-effective for Indian tourists participating in pre-arranged tours.
