Summer Train Announcement
In a significant move to ease summer travel woes, South Central Railway has announced the operation of four special trains. These services are designed
to connect major cities in the Deccan region, specifically Visakhapatnam and Nanded, with the nation's capital, Hazrat Nizamuddin, in Delhi. The initiative aims to provide much-needed relief for a substantial number of passengers who face difficulties in securing confirmed train tickets during the busy summer months. This strategic introduction of additional services underscores the railway's commitment to enhancing passenger convenience and accessibility during periods of high demand, ensuring that more families can travel smoothly.
Route and Schedule
The special train services will operate on two distinct routes, each offering a one-way journey during the peak summer travel window from May 21 to May 25, 2026. For the Visakhapatnam to Delhi route, Train 08513 is scheduled to depart Visakhapatnam at 5:40 PM on May 21, arriving at Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi, at 11:40 AM on May 23. The return journey, Train 08514, will depart Nizamuddin at 11:55 PM on May 24, reaching Visakhapatnam at 10:40 PM on May 26. On the Nanded to Delhi route, Train 07660 will leave Nanded at 6:35 AM on May 22, arriving at Nizamuddin at 2:30 PM on May 23. Its counterpart, Train 07661, is set to depart Nizamuddin at 1:25 AM on May 25, arriving in Nanded at 9:45 AM on May 26. Each of these trains will undertake a single trip, precisely timed to facilitate travel during the period of highest demand.
Key Halts and Connectivity
These special trains offer extensive connectivity by making crucial stops along their respective routes. The Nanded service traverses through significant stations including Adilabad, Nagpur, Rani Kamlapati (Bhopal), Jhansi, and Agra Cantt, effectively bridging Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. Similarly, the Visakhapatnam train makes stops at Duvvada, Anakapalli, Tuni, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Balharshah, Nagpur, Rani Kamlapati (Bhopal), Jhansi, and Agra Cantt. This broad network of halts ensures that passengers from numerous intermediate towns and cities, extending from coastal Andhra Pradesh northwards, have convenient boarding and alighting points, thereby reuniting thousands of families more efficiently.
Coach Composition
A noteworthy aspect of these summer special trains is their coach configuration. Both the services connecting Visakhapatnam and Nanded to Delhi will exclusively feature Sleeper Class and General Second Class coaches. This deliberate choice in composition reflects a focus on affordability and accessibility, catering primarily to students, daily wage earners, and other budget-conscious travelers who constitute a significant portion of summer travelers. By prioritizing these coach types, South Central Railway aims to make rail travel more economical and widely accessible for the common populace during the peak season, ensuring that the majority can benefit from these additional services.
Booking Advantage
Passengers looking to book tickets for these special summer trains are presented with a distinct advantage. Since these trains are newly announced, they are expected to have lower waitlist pressure compared to the regular services operating on these busy routes. This translates into a significantly higher probability of securing confirmed berths for travelers. For individuals who have been struggling with waitlisted tickets on existing trains, these special services offer a golden opportunity to finalize their travel plans with greater certainty and ease, thereby avoiding the common frustrations associated with peak-season railway bookings.
