Increased Flight Frequency
Virgin Atlantic is set to augment its flight operations between London Heathrow and Bengaluru, increasing the number of weekly services from 11 to 13.
This enhanced schedule, commencing from June 1st and continuing through the summer travel period, is designed to solidify consistent travel links between the UK capital and one of India's premier technology and innovation centers. This strategic move not only benefits direct travel but also significantly improves onward connectivity to a multitude of North American destinations. Through its established joint ventures with Delta Air Lines and Air France-KLM, passengers will find more convenient access to cities like Toronto, Seattle, San Francisco, and New York JFK. This expansion builds upon the airline's existing commitment to the Bengaluru market, following recent introductions of additional frequencies earlier in the year, underscoring a sustained effort to fortify its presence and service offerings in India.
Strategic Connectivity Gains
The boost in London-Bengaluru flights serves a dual purpose, extending beyond mere passenger convenience. It significantly enhances the gateway for travelers looking to access key North American cities. By leveraging partnerships with Delta Air Lines and Air France-KLM, Virgin Atlantic is able to offer a more robust network, facilitating smoother transitions for passengers heading to destinations such as Toronto, Seattle, San Francisco, and New York JFK. This expanded offering is a testament to the airline's strategy of strengthening its India network and optimizing connections to critical global markets. Furthermore, the airline is temporarily reconfiguring its London Heathrow-Mumbai route, switching from a Boeing 787 to an Airbus A350 for flights VS358/359 until May 15th. This substitution will introduce a 30% capacity increase on the Mumbai route, ensuring greater availability during peak travel times and demonstrating a proactive approach to managing seasonal demand.
Enhanced Indian Network
India stands out as Virgin Atlantic's most significant growth region outside of the United States, and the expansion of services to Bengaluru is central to this growth trajectory. The enhanced schedule for Bengaluru complements the airline's existing double-daily services from London Heathrow to both Delhi and Mumbai, creating a more comprehensive network across India's major metropolitan areas. This expansion also deepens the airline's collaboration with its codeshare partner, IndiGo, which allows for seamless connections to over 30 destinations throughout India, including popular cities like Goa, Amritsar, and Jaipur. This integrated approach allows Virgin Atlantic to offer a more complete travel solution for passengers flying into and out of India. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has officially published the international operations' summer schedule, with the Bengaluru service continuing to be operated by Virgin Atlantic's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, configured with 31 Upper Class, 35 Premium, and 192 Economy seats, alongside the distinctive Upper Class social space.
Commitment to India
Virgin Atlantic is demonstrating a profound commitment to the Indian market, recognizing its dynamic nature and rapid expansion potential. The increased frequency to Bengaluru is specifically timed to cater to the busy summer season, ensuring travelers have more reliable and convenient flight options. This strategic enhancement aligns perfectly with the airline's existing robust services to Delhi and Mumbai, effectively doubling daily offerings to these key cities. India continues to be a cornerstone of the airline's global strategy, and the airline is not only focusing on route expansion but also on enhancing the onboard experience. To support the growing demand and ensure superior service, Virgin Atlantic is increasing its crew numbers on India routes. Each flight will now be staffed with an additional crew member, raising the complement to six per flight. This measure is aimed at further elevating the quality of service and passenger comfort during flights connecting to and from India.
