The Injury Unveiled
Rakul Preet Singh recently divulged the primary reason behind her decision to cease wearing high heels: a significant back injury sustained during the filming
of 'De De Pyaar De 2'. This incident occurred when she was halfway through the project, rendering her immobile for a considerable period of 40 days. Describing her state as that of a 'vegetable', she expressed profound uncertainty about regaining her ability to walk. It ultimately took her nearly a year to achieve a full recovery from this spinal trauma. This experience has profoundly impacted her lifestyle choices, prompting a complete reevaluation of footwear.
Heels and Health Risks
The persistent use of high heels poses considerable risks to overall bodily health, particularly concerning the back and orthopedic well-being. When wearing heels, body weight is disproportionately distributed, increasing the likelihood of developing back issues and other musculoskeletal problems. Medical professionals strongly advise against wearing them, especially for individuals recovering from spinal injuries, recommending complete avoidance. Furthermore, prolonged periods in heels can lead to foot muscles becoming stiff and weak due to being locked in an unnatural position, restricting natural movement and potentially causing long-term foot ailments.
Comfortable Footwear Alternatives
To safeguard foot and back health, prioritizing comfortable footwear is paramount. Opt for shoes that offer adequate cushioning and ample toe space, as these features help alleviate pressure on the foot arches. Daily moisturizing of the feet is also beneficial, as it keeps the skin soft and less prone to cracking. When trimming toenails, ensure they are cut straight across to prevent the development of painful ingrown nails. If your occupation involves prolonged standing, it is crucial to take short breaks to move around, as this enhances blood circulation. After bathing, always clean and thoroughly dry your feet to ward off fungal infections. Finally, replace worn-out shoes promptly, as flattened soles lose their ability to provide proper support, exacerbating strain on your feet and back.
