New Expressway Planned
In response to escalating traffic and the burgeoning demands of the Jevar International Airport, authorities are initiating the construction of a novel
high-speed expressway. This new route will run parallel to the existing Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, significantly expediting and simplifying journeys from Delhi to Jevar Airport. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is spearheading this initiative, with surveys already underway and a Detailed Project Report (DPR) in the making. This project signifies a major step towards enhancing transportation infrastructure in the region, promising a more efficient travel experience for residents and visitors alike.
Route and Design
The proposed expressway will originate from Sector-94 in Noida, extending to Sector-150 and further connecting to Pari Chowk and Knowledge Park. Spanning approximately 31 kilometers, this corridor will boast a width of 6 to 10 lanes, designed to accommodate future traffic growth. A significant portion, around 14 kilometers, will be elevated, while the remaining stretch will be at ground level. This strategic design aims to establish the corridor as the fastest link between Delhi and Jevar Airport in the coming years.
Traffic Relief Insights
Daily commuters in Delhi, Noida, and Greater Noida frequently face considerable traffic jams, particularly on the Mahamaya Flyover, DND, and the Noida Expressway. With the operationalization of Jevar Airport, a surge in vehicular traffic is anticipated. This new expressway is poised to play a crucial role in mitigating the strain on existing routes. Its connectivity to the DND Flyway, Chilla Elevated Road, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and Yamuna Expressway will facilitate smoother travel between Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Jevar Airport, offering a vital alternative high-speed route and alleviating daily congestion.
Projected Costs and Impact
The overall investment for this extensive project is estimated at approximately ₹4300 crore. A substantial portion of this budget, around ₹1400 crore, is allocated for land acquisition. Additionally, a new junction near Sector-94 will be developed to ensure seamless integration of traffic from Delhi and DND onto the new expressway. Experts foresee this project extending its influence beyond mere infrastructure development, potentially reshaping the broader NCR landscape in the future.
