The scientific consensus for this group has settled in a higher range. Experts recommend an intake of approximately 1.2 to 1.7 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. For that same 70 kg person, this means a significant jump to between 84 and 119 grams daily. This additional protein helps repair the microscopic muscle tears that occur during exercise, which is how you build strength and endurance over time.

For competitive athletes and those undergoing intense training, protein is a critical component for performance and recovery. These individuals push their bodies to the limit, requiring even more protein to repair tissue and build lean mass.
