First, Understand the Rejection
Before you can fix the problem, it helps to know why your Digital Life Certificate (DLC) was rejected. According to the Jeevan Pramaan portal, rejections almost always happen because of a mismatch between the information you provided and the data held
by your pension authority. Common errors include an incorrect Pension Payment Order (PPO) number, discrepancies in your name or date of birth, wrong bank account details, or a poor-quality biometric scan (fingerprint or iris) that failed verification. In some cases, especially for older pensioners, faint fingerprints can be a recurring problem.
Confirm Your Status and Rejection Reason
Even if you haven't received an SMS, you can verify the status of your submission yourself. Visit the official Jeevan Pramaan website (jeevanpramaan.gov.in) and use your Pramaan ID to download the certificate. The portal will clearly show whether your certificate is accepted, pending, or rejected. If it has been rejected, the next and most important step is to contact your Pension Disbursing Agency (PDA). Your PDA is the institution that credits your pension every month, which is typically your bank or post office. They can look into their system and give you the specific reason for the rejection, which is crucial for the next step.
The Solution: Generate a New Certificate
In most instances of rejection, the official recommendation is to generate a completely new Jeevan Pramaan with a fresh Pramaan ID. Do not try to correct the old one. When you resubmit, it is vital to ensure all your details are entered with extreme care. Have your documents ready, including your Pension Payment Order (PPO), Aadhaar card, and bank passbook. Double-check that your name, PPO number, and account details are exactly as they appear in the official records of the disbursing agency. If biometric failure was the issue, ensure your fingerprint or iris is captured clearly in good lighting. Using an iris scanner can be a more reliable alternative if you have issues with fingerprint recognition.
A Checklist Before You Resubmit
To avoid another rejection, gather all your essential information beforehand. You will need your Aadhaar number, a registered mobile number for the OTP, your PPO number, your pension account number, and the name of your Pension Sanctioning and Disbursing Authorities. Submitting accurate information is the key to a successful verification. You can generate a new DLC at a designated Jeevan Pramaan centre, which can be found at banks, post offices, or Citizen Service Centres (CSCs). You can also use the Jeevan Pramaan app on a smartphone or computer, provided you have access to a biometric device.
What If the Problem Persists?
If contacting your PDA doesn’t resolve the issue or if you face continued problems, there are other avenues for grievances. Every authorised pension-disbursing bank has a dedicated pension cell you can approach. For central government pensioners, you can lodge a formal complaint through the Centralized Pension Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPENGRAMS) at pgportal.gov.in. When filing a grievance, be sure to include your PPO number, details of the rejection, and the steps you have already taken to resolve it. However, for most simple rejections, a direct conversation with your bank or post office and a careful resubmission of your DLC is the fastest path to a solution.
