A Landmark Event for a Rising Power
SEMICON India has quickly become the nation's most important event for the electronics and semiconductor ecosystem. Scheduled to run from September 17 to 19, the fifth edition of the conference will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jointly
organized by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and the global industry association SEMI, the event serves as a crucial platform for connecting policymakers, global tech leaders, investors, and researchers. This year's theme, "Transform Tomorrow: Silicon to Systems – Building the Ecosystem," underscores the national focus on creating a complete, end-to-end value chain, from raw materials and chip design to advanced manufacturing and system integration. The goal is to move India from being a consumer of chips to a key hub in the global supply chain.
The Yashobhoomi Advantage
The choice of venue, Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, is symbolic of the event's scale and ambition. As one of the largest convention and exhibition centers in the world, Yashobhoomi provides the state-of-the-art infrastructure needed to host an event of this magnitude. Its inauguration in 2023 was a statement of India's intent to host world-class global gatherings. Holding SEMICON India here reflects the immense growth of the event and the increasing confidence of global industry leaders in India's semiconductor journey. The facility's massive auditoriums, exhibition halls, and meeting rooms are set to welcome over 500 exhibitors, including more than 240 international companies, and delegations from over 40 countries.
More Than Just a Conference
While high-level keynotes and policy discussions are a major draw, SEMICON India 2026 offers a comprehensive experience. A highlight of this year's edition will be the "Value Chain Experience," an immersive exhibition designed to showcase India's expanding capabilities across every stage, from sand to systems. Attendees can expect a packed three-day schedule featuring panel discussions on AI, smart manufacturing, supply chains, and sustainability. With over 150 international speakers, the event provides unparalleled networking opportunities, allowing startups to connect with investors, engineers to meet recruiters, and Indian firms to forge partnerships with global giants like ASML, IBM Research, Tata Electronics, and Micron.
India's Chip Dream Takes Center Stage
The event comes at a critical time for India's technology ambitions. The government's India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) has been aggressively working to attract investment and build a self-reliant electronics manufacturing ecosystem through its ₹76,000 crore (approximately $10 billion) program. This policy push is already bearing fruit, with several major projects, including Tata's chip fabrication plant in Gujarat, commencing construction. The semiconductor market in India is projected to grow significantly, with some estimates suggesting it could reach over $100 billion by 2030. SEMICON India 2026 will serve as a powerful platform to showcase this progress, build on the momentum of the government's Semicon 2.0 phase, and attract further global investment into the country's burgeoning industry.
