Who Is Eligible for the Free Visa?
This offer is not open to all travellers. To qualify, you must be an Indian passport holder whose journey originates in India. The most crucial condition is that you cannot apply for this free visa independently. It is exclusively available when booking a specific type of travel package through participating travel agencies or online travel portals that are part of the program. This means individual travellers who book flights and hotels separately are not eligible for the visa cost waiver under this scheme. The initiative aims to boost tourism through official channels and encourage longer stays.
The 'Package Limits' Explained
The term "package-linked" is key. To get the free visa, your booking must meet strict criteria. The package has to include both a return flight from India and a hotel stay of at least three consecutive nights in Abu Dhabi. This is a critical detail; splitting your stay between Abu Dhabi and another emirate, like Dubai, might invalidate your eligibility even if your total time in the UAE is longer. The offer is tied directly to ensuring tourists spend a minimum amount of time and money within Abu Dhabi itself. The pilot phase is also capped, with funding for up to 20,000 visas, so it's a time-sensitive and volume-limited opportunity.
How to Book and Avoid Pitfalls
To take advantage of this offer, your first step should be to find a travel partner or online agency that is participating in the DCT Abu Dhabi programme. When making an enquiry, explicitly ask if they are enrolled in the free visa initiative. Before finalising your payment, ensure your travel invoice or booking confirmation clearly states that the UAE entry visa fee is covered under the program. Double-check that your hotel is in Abu Dhabi and that your stay is for at least three consecutive nights. Always verify that your travel dates fall within the program window of August 1 to October 31, 2026, as the offer will expire unless officially extended.
What Happens Behind the Scenes?
For travellers, the process should be seamless, with the visa cost simply removed from the final package price. For the travel agencies, there are two ways the programme works.
