The machine at the center of this excitement is the CFMoto V4 SR-RR, a pre-production prototype from the increasingly ambitious Chinese manufacturer. While many associate high-performance superbikes with legacy brands from Japan and Europe, CFMoto has
thrown down the gauntlet with a machine that is undeniably world-class. During recent testing at the Shangrao Automotive Proving Grounds in China, this prototype achieved a GPS-verified top speed of 315.82 km/h, which translates to a blistering 196 mph. This achievement places the V4 SR-RR in the elite company of bikes like the BMW M 1000 RR and Ducati Panigale V4 R, proving it's a serious contender.
The Heart of the Beast
The source of this incredible performance is a liquid-cooled 997cc V4 engine that, according to CFMoto, revs all the way to 15,000rpm. Achieving such high engine speeds in a liter-class V4 is a massive engineering feat, requiring incredibly strong and lightweight internal components to handle the immense forces. The engine reportedly produces over 210 horsepower, a figure that puts it squarely in top-tier superbike territory. This high-revving nature is what allows the bike to build speed so relentlessly, with reports from the test run indicating it passed 160 km/h (100 mph) in first gear alone.
