Kenya has transitioned from its previous visa-on-arrival system to a mandatory Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) for all foreign visitors, including those from India. This means travellers can no longer get a visa upon landing and must apply online

Malaysia: Mandatory Digital Arrival Card
While Malaysia continues to offer visa-free entry for Indian tourists for stays up to 30 days, a new pre-travel step is now mandatory: the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC). This digital form replaced the traditional paper landing cards and must be completed online within three days prior to arriving in the country. The MDAC requires travellers to submit personal details, passport information, flight numbers, and the address of their accommodation in Malaysia. The submission process is free and can be done through the official immigration portal. After submission, a confirmation is linked to your passport electronically, ensuring a smoother and faster immigration clearance process upon arrival.
Indonesia: Navigating the e-Visa System
Indonesia has suspended its visa-free entry policy, and Indian citizens now require a visa before arrival. The most common route for tourists is the Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA). This must be applied for online prior to departure. The e-VOA grants a 30-day stay and can be extended once for an additional 30 days. In addition, all travellers must fill out an Electronic Customs Declaration (ECD) online within 48 hours before their flight. For those travelling to Bali, a regional tourist levy must also be paid, which authorities recommend doing online beforehand to avoid queues at the airport. These digital steps are designed to manage tourism flow and reduce congestion at immigration counters.
Iran: Visa-Free Access Suspended
Iran has suspended its visa-free entry program for Indian passport holders. This policy change means that travellers who previously could enter without a prior visa must now obtain one before their trip. The change was implemented as part of an update to the country's security and entry requirements. Indian citizens planning to visit Iran for tourism, business, or any other purpose must now go through the standard visa application process via an Iranian embassy or consulate before booking their travel. This marks a significant shift from the previous, more relaxed entry policy.
