An Enhanced Viewing Experience
To fully capitalize on this natural theatre, Indian Railways offers Vistadome coaches on select trains like the Jan Shatabdi Express. These coaches are designed for an immersive experience, featuring panoramic glass roofs, wide windows, and rotating seats that allow passengers to soak in the 360-degree views. From a Vistadome seat, you can watch clouds drift across the glass ceiling and see waterfalls like the famous one near Ranpat in their full glory without obstruction. Engineering Safety Amidst Nature's Fury
While the monsoon brings spectacular beauty, it also presents significant operational challenges, from landslides to flooding. Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) implements a comprehensive monsoon action plan each year to ensure passenger safety. This includes deploying over 600 personnel for round-the-clock track patrolling, especially in vulnerable sections. Advanced safety measures are in place, such as geo-safety works to prevent boulder falls, flood warning systems on major bridges, and self-recording rain gauges at multiple stations. During periods of heavy rain and low visibility, train speeds are restricted to 40 km/h for added precaution. These extensive preparations have resulted in a remarkable safety record, with no major disruptions due to boulder falls reported in over a decade, allowing passengers to enjoy the stunning scenery with peace of mind.
