Introducing the Landmark Edition
Jaguar Land Rover has introduced a new variant to its Discovery lineup in India: the Landmark Edition. This special model slots neatly between the entry-level S and the top-tier Tempest specifications, offering a unique blend of curated features and design
flourishes. The ‘Landmark’ name itself carries a legacy, having been used on previous Discovery generations to mark significant moments, often towards the end of a model’s lifecycle. This edition is designed to celebrate the essence of the Discovery, combining its renowned versatility with exclusive cosmetic touches that pay homage to its rich heritage dating back to 1989.
A Nod to Heritage with a Modern Twist
The most striking feature of the Landmark Edition is its exclusive Tasman Blue paint finish. This isn't just another colour; it's a modern interpretation of the iconic Clearwater Blue that was offered on the very first Discovery in 1989, creating a direct link to the model's adventurous roots. Complementing this heritage colour are several sophisticated exterior accents. The front grille, side fender vents, and the prominent 'Discovery' lettering on the bonnet and tailgate are all finished in a stylish Graphite Atlas grey. And, as the headline suggests, the front and rear skid plates get a rugged yet premium Carpathian Grey finish, a colour often reserved for Land Rover's more performance-oriented models.
Distinctive Details and Wheels
The bespoke treatment extends to the finer details that set the Landmark Edition apart. A unique mountain logo and 'Landmark' wordmark are subtly placed on the front tread plates, the B-pillar inserts, and even projected onto the ground by the puddle lamps. This branding serves as a constant reminder of the vehicle's special status. The entire package rides on a new set of 21-inch alloy wheels, which feature a distinctive Dark Agate Grey finish, adding to the vehicle's purposeful stance. These elements come together to create a look that is both distinguished and unmistakably a Discovery.
Inside the Enhanced Cabin
Step inside, and the cabin of the Landmark Edition continues the theme of curated luxury. The interior features dark grey brushed aluminium trim finishers, with subtle 'Landmark' branding. A notable addition is the use of Tech Velour, a soft, suede-like material, on the dashboard and door cards, which adds a layer of tactile sophistication. Occupants are treated to a spacious and airy feel, thanks to a standard sliding panoramic sunroof. Perhaps one of the most practical features for Indian families on long journeys is the inclusion of a refrigerator in the centre console, perfect for keeping drinks and snacks cool on the go.
Powertrain and Market Position
In India, the Discovery Landmark Edition is powered by the familiar and potent D350 powertrain. This is a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces a formidable 350 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. Mated to a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission and Land Rover’s legendary all-wheel-drive system, it offers effortless performance both on and off the road. The vehicle retains its impressive 900mm water wading capability and a 3,500kg towing capacity. While official pricing for India has not yet been announced, its position between the S and Tempest models suggests it will compete squarely with other premium seven-seaters like the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and Audi Q7.
