A Pathway to Premier Institutes
The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) has announced a significant scholarship program for students aspiring to crack the nation's toughest entrance exams. Through a collaboration with the non-profit Dakshana Foundation, meritorious students from Delhi government
and government-aided schools will receive one year of intensive residential coaching for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for engineering and the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medicine. The program is designed to remove the financial barriers that often prevent talented students from accessing the high-quality preparation needed for these competitive exams.
Who Is Eligible for This Opportunity?
The scholarship is open to science stream students currently in Class 12 during the 2026-27 academic session. A key focus is on students from economically weaker backgrounds, with an annual family income cap of ₹3 lakh. However, this income condition is waived for candidates in the Persons with Disabilities (PD) category. The selection process is rigorous and merit-based, ensuring that the most deserving and dedicated students are chosen. The DoE has directed all school heads to ensure every eligible student is informed about this opportunity.
The Selection Gauntlet
Getting into this elite program requires passing the Joint Dakshana Selection Test (JDST) 2027, which is scheduled for December 2026. The process is multi-staged. Interested students must first apply through the Dakshana Foundation's official portal. Those who meet the initial academic and eligibility criteria will be invited to complete a more detailed application and participate in mock tests to familiarize themselves with the online exam interface. Successful candidates from the JDST will then face an interview and document verification before the final selection is made for the scholarship.
The Dakshana Difference
The Dakshana Foundation is not a newcomer to this field; it is a philanthropic organization with a powerful mission to alleviate poverty through education. For years, it has focused on identifying gifted students from impoverished backgrounds and providing them with world-class coaching. Their track record is impressive, with success rates for getting students into IITs and medical colleges that are many times the national average. This partnership brings Dakshana's proven methodology and experienced faculty to the aid of Delhi's students.
An Immersive Learning Environment
What makes this program particularly special is its residential nature. Selected students will be coached at the Dakshana Valley campus, a dedicated facility in Pune, Maharashtra. The scholarship is all-encompassing, covering not just the expert coaching but also accommodation and food for the entire year. This allows students to live and study in a focused, distraction-free environment, surrounded by peers with similar goals and guided by mentors around the clock. This immersive experience is a critical component of preparing for the mental and academic rigors of exams like JEE and NEET.
