followed by the arrival of airport staff at your residence to collect your luggage, weigh it, and complete baggage tagging on the spot. The vision includes a chauffeur-driven vehicle to transport you to the terminal, where you can bypass the conventional check-in and baggage drop queues. Once at the airport, support staff would guide you through security and immigration, all the way to the boarding gate, creating a seamless, premium experience. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to extend passenger care beyond the terminal walls and redefine the entire travel process.
An Extension of 'Care by BLR'
This ambitious home check-in service isn't being built from scratch. It's a planned expansion of 'Care by BLR', the airport's existing personalised passenger-service programme. Launched earlier in 2026, Care by BLR already offers a suite of premium services designed to make navigating the airport easier. These currently include 'Meet & Assist' facilities, where staff help passengers through checkpoints, as well as porter services, limousine transfers, lounge access, and valet parking. The new proposal seeks to bundle these offerings and integrate them with a home-pickup component, essentially creating a single, uninterrupted service from your front door to your flight. The goal is to assist passengers at every stage of their journey, not just once they arrive at the kerbside.
The Big Question: When Can You Book It?
While the vision is compelling, it is crucial for travellers to know that this integrated home check-in and baggage pickup service is, for now, a proposed plan. Bengaluru Airport has not yet announced an official launch date. Key details such as pricing, the geographical radius for the pickup service, specific airline partnerships, and the booking process are still under consideration and have not been made public. The good news for eager travellers is that you don't have to wait for the full 'Care by BLR' rollout to experience baggage-free travel. Several third-party companies already offer doorstep luggage pickup and delivery services for passengers flying out of Bengaluru. Companies like CarterPorter have been operating at the airport for years, offering to pick up your bags from home and transfer them to the airport. In fact, IndiGo launched a service called '6EBagport' in partnership with CarterPorter back in 2021 to provide door-to-door baggage transfers. These existing services allow you to send your luggage ahead, travel light to the airport, and collect your bags at your destination, though they may not include the integrated check-in and in-terminal assistance promised by the proposed 'Care by BLR' model.
