A Major Vote of Confidence
The significant funding round was co-led by deep-tech fund Yali Capital and TDK Ventures, the corporate venture arm of the Japanese electronics giant. The investment also brought a notable name into Ultraviolette’s camp: Lip-Bu Tan, the influential CEO
of Intel, who participated personally and will join the company as a strategic advisor. This blend of deep-tech investors and seasoned industry veterans signals strong confidence in Ultraviolette's vision. The round also saw participation from existing long-term investors, including TVS Motor Company, Zoho Corporation, Speciale Invest, and Qualcomm Ventures, reinforcing their continued belief in the company's trajectory. This new capital is seen as a critical enabler for the company's next phase of growth, which involves both scaling its current operations and venturing into entirely new territory.
Beyond the Performance Motorcycle
While the F77 has been Ultraviolette’s calling card, establishing it as a premium, performance-oriented brand, the fresh capital is earmarked for a dramatic expansion of its product portfolio. The company has confirmed the funds will fuel the development of its next-generation global EV platforms. This isn't just about variations of the F77; it's about creating a family of vehicles. The company has been developing a flexible technical architecture that spans from 48V to 400V systems. In simple terms, this allows them to build everything from smaller, more affordable urban mobility solutions to high-voltage, high-performance superbikes. Two upcoming products that will benefit from this are the 'Tesseract' scooter and the 'Shockwave' enduro platforms, which will move the brand beyond its niche and into more mainstream segments. The Tesseract, in particular, marks a strategic entry into the highly competitive electric scooter market, making the brand accessible to a much broader audience.
Fueling Ambitious Global Expansion
Alongside product diversification, the $85 million fundraise is set to accelerate Ultraviolette's international expansion. The company already operates in India and 20 European countries, but it has its sights set on even larger markets. A key target is the United States, with a planned market entry in 2027. This move will be supported by the expertise of new advisor Lip-Bu Tan, whose experience in the global tech landscape will be invaluable. Beyond the US, the company is also planning entries into key markets in Latin America and Southeast Asia, transforming it from an Indian startup into a truly global EV player. The strategy is to leverage its unique design and in-house technology to compete on a world stage, moving beyond its home turf to challenge established players.
The Industrial Backbone for Growth
Ambitious plans for new models and global markets require a robust manufacturing base, and Ultraviolette is laying the groundwork for exactly that. The funding announcement comes on the heels of the company revealing plans for a new manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. This new plant is a massive step up, designed to eventually increase the company's production capacity to 500,000 units per year. This industrial scaling is crucial to meet the anticipated demand not only for the current F77 and X-47 models but also for the upcoming Tesseract and Shockwave lines. By building out its production capabilities, Ultraviolette is ensuring it can deliver on its promises and compete on volume, not just on premium design and technology.
