A Splash of History
The most eye-catching feature of the Discovery Landmark Edition is its exclusive new paint colour: Tasman Blue. This isn't just a random shade selected from a catalogue; it's a direct nod to the past. Land Rover says the metallic finish was inspired by
the original Clearwater Blue, a colour offered on the very first Discovery back in 1989. By reviving this iconic hue, the brand is tapping into a deep well of nostalgia for long-time fans and introducing a new generation to the model's rich history. This retro colour is paired with modern accents, including a Graphite Atlas finish for the grille and side vents, and Carpathian Grey for the skid plates, creating a look that is both classic and contemporary.
Distinctive Details Throughout
The Landmark Edition's uniqueness extends beyond its paintwork. Land Rover has added a host of special details to set this model apart. It features a unique mountain logo and wordmark on the front tread plates, centre console, and B-pillar inserts. This emblem is even projected onto the ground by the puddle lamps, a subtle but impressive touch. The vehicle sits on newly designed 21-inch alloy wheels finished in a new Dark Agate Grey. Inside, the cabin is treated to dark grey brushed aluminium accents and dashboard trim made from Tech Velour, a faux suede material. To enhance the feeling of premium adventure, a sliding panoramic sunroof and a centre console refrigerator come as standard features, perfect for family road trips.
Proven Power and Capability
While the aesthetics are new, the Landmark Edition retains the formidable capability the Discovery is known for. In international markets, the model will be available with a range of six-cylinder Ingenium powertrains, including the powerful D350 diesel engine which delivers 350hp and 700Nm of torque. Power is managed by an 8-speed automatic transmission and sent to all four wheels. Of course, it wouldn't be a Land Rover without serious off-road credentials. The Landmark Edition includes the Terrain Response 2 system, which optimises the vehicle for different surfaces. It also boasts an impressive water-wading depth of 900mm and a towing capacity of 3,500kg, ensuring it’s ready for any adventure you can throw at it.
The Indian Context
For enthusiasts in India, the question of local availability is key. Land Rover has a history of bringing special editions to the Indian market, including previous Landmark versions of the Discovery Sport. These have typically been well-received, offering a unique proposition for buyers in the luxury SUV segment. However, some reports suggest that this new Landmark Edition for the full-size Discovery may be a run-out model for the current generation in some markets. Land Rover India has not yet made an official announcement regarding the launch or pricing of the 2026 Discovery Landmark Edition. Prospective buyers will need to watch for official communication from the brand, but given India's appetite for exclusive, feature-rich SUVs, its arrival would not be a surprise.
