In the early hours of September 4, 2026, ISRO's Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F17) lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The rocket successfully placed the EOS-05, an advanced Earth observation satellite, into
its intended sub-geosynchronous transfer orbit. Weighing 2,367 kg, EOS-05 is a state-of-the-art satellite that marks ISRO's first successful launch of 2026, providing a much-needed morale boost after a few setbacks. The mission's success is a testament to the reliability of the GSLV, once nicknamed the “naughty boy,” which has now proven its capability to handle heavy and complex payloads.
