it has been a staple in the traditional medicine of indigenous communities like the Khoisan people. Its fruit, which has a distinct sweet and sour taste, is also used to make jams and chutneys. While it’s primarily known in its native region, its reputation as a plant with medicinal value is beginning to spread globally, sparking curiosity among wellness enthusiasts.

Long before modern science took an interest, the African Sour Fig was a well-respected remedy in South African folk medicine.
