A Consistent Climb to the Top
IIM Bangalore’s flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) has been ranked 21st globally in the FT MiM rankings for 2026. This marks a significant and steady ascent for the institution, which was ranked 28th in 2025 and 41st in 2024. This upward
trajectory places IIMB as the only Indian business school within the global top 25, solidifying its position as a front-runner in management education not just in India, but across the world. The 2026 list featured a strong showing from India overall, with 14 institutions making it into the top 100, up from 11 in the previous year.
The Evidence: Strong Career Outcomes
The FT ranking methodology is heavily influenced by alumni feedback, which accounts for 56% of the total weight. IIM Bangalore's improved standing is directly linked to strong performance in these alumni-driven metrics. A key piece of evidence is the 'Career Progress' rank, where IIMB jumped to 69th from 90th in 2025. This indicates that graduates are advancing in their careers more rapidly. Furthermore, the institute’s 'Careers Service' rank improved to 8th globally from 11th, signalling high satisfaction among alumni with the placement support they received.
Dominance in Salary Metrics
For many prospective students, the ultimate evidence of a programme's value lies in its salary outcomes. Here, Indian schools, and IIMB in particular, demonstrate remarkable strength. The 2026 rankings show that Indian institutes command seven of the top eight positions worldwide for weighted salary. IIM Bangalore reported an impressive weighted salary of $189,428, second only to IIM Ahmedabad in India. This figure, adjusted for purchasing power parity, underscores the significant return on investment that an IIMB education provides, highlighting the strong local buying power and value its graduates command in the market.
An Engaged and Powerful Alumni Network
Beyond immediate career services and salary, the long-term value of a business school is often found in its alumni network. The evidence shows significant improvement in this area for IIM Bangalore. The school’s 'Alumni Network' rank climbed to 19th globally, a major leap from 31st in the previous year. This metric reflects how effective the alumni community is in providing opportunities, mentorship, and a professional safety net for graduates. A stronger network is a crucial asset for career development long after graduation, and IIMB's progress here is a testament to its growing global community.
Value, Diversity, and Sustainability
While career metrics are dominant, the FT rankings also assess other critical factors. IIMB's 'Value for Money' rank improved substantially, moving to 65th from 78th in 2025, showing the programme's cost is increasingly justified by its outcomes. The institute also made strides in diversity and sustainability. The percentage of women on the board increased to 44% from 40%. Furthermore, its commitment to environmental goals was recognised with a dramatic leap in its carbon footprint ranking, demonstrating a growing focus on responsible management education.
