When Bentley’s bespoke customisation division, Mulliner, gets involved, you expect something special. But few anticipated a design this audacious. Unveiled at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2026, the new 'Design Theme' is an optional
package for the already exclusive Continental GT Supersports. Its goal is to visually express the car's intensely driver-focused nature. It does this by abandoning perfect symmetry, a cornerstone of traditional car design, in favour of a layout that puts the driver squarely in the spotlight, both visually and philosophically. It’s a bold declaration from a brand often associated with understated luxury, signaling a more performance-oriented and expressive future.
The Unprecedented Paint Fade
The most talked-about feature is a paint finish never before seen on a production Bentley: a side-to-side fade. The colour on the driver’s side is a bright, bold highlight that seamlessly transitions across the bonnet, roof, and boot into a deeper, darker tone on the passenger side. This takes an incredible 56 hours of work by skilled artisans. This effect is paired with an off-centre stripe that runs the length of the car, deliberately aligned with the passenger seat to further isolate and emphasise the driver's position. To make it easier for buyers, Mulliner has created three curated specifications. 'Dragon' offers a fiery Dragon Red fading to Black Crystal, 'Electric' blends Electric Blue into Dark Sapphire, and 'Brodgar' provides a more subtle take with a fade from Pale Brodgar to a darker Brodgar tone.
A Cabin Divided for Focus
The driver-centric philosophy extends dramatically to the interior. The Supersports is a strict two-seater, and the Design Theme uses colour to create a cockpit-like environment for the person behind the wheel. The leather upholstery follows the exterior's asymmetrical lead. The driver is enveloped in the brighter, more vibrant colour of the chosen theme—like Hotspur red in the 'Dragon' specification—while the passenger side is finished in a contrasting, darker shade such as Beluga black. This creates a visual partition down the centre of the car. The effect is completed with unique perforation patterns on the seats, contrast stitching, and a matching gear selector, reinforcing the idea that while the passenger is along for the ride, the car’s entire focus is on the driver's experience.
