Introducing the New Landmark Edition
The biggest news is the introduction of the Discovery Landmark Edition, which slots neatly into the middle of the revised range, positioned between the entry-level S and the top-spec Tempest models. This special edition focuses on exclusive cosmetic enhancements.
Most notably, it is available in an exclusive Tasman Blue metallic paint, a nod to the Clearwater Blue colour offered on the original 1989 Discovery. To complement this heritage colour, the Landmark Edition features Graphite Atlas finishing on the grille, fender vents, and Discovery badging. It rides on newly designed 21-inch alloy wheels finished in Dark Agate Grey, while the front and rear skid plates are painted in Carpathian Grey for a rugged yet sophisticated look.
A Premium and Practical Cabin
Inside, the Landmark Edition continues its theme of understated luxury. The cabin is appointed with dark grey brushed aluminium trim details. Unique branding cues, including mountain-themed graphics, can be found on the tread plates, B-pillar, and even projected by the puddle lamps. Beyond aesthetics, the Landmark Edition is designed for practicality, especially for long family journeys. It comes equipped with a panoramic sunroof and, perhaps most conveniently, a refrigerator integrated into the centre console to keep beverages chilled on the go.
Updates Across the Discovery Range
The rest of the Discovery lineup has not been ignored. The flagship Tempest edition now boasts an exclusive new Borasco Grey paint option, which comes with a matte protective film as a standard feature. Inside, the Tempest gains 20-way massage front seats with driver memory, enhancing its premium credentials. Even the entry-level S model receives a significant boost. It now comes standard with the powerful P360 six-cylinder petrol engine and roof rails, which were previously optional. Furthermore, all models in the updated Discovery range will feature a driver attention monitoring system as a standard safety feature, reflecting a commitment to driver well-being.
Powertrain and Performance
Under the bonnet, the Land Rover Discovery continues to offer a choice of robust Ingenium engines. The lineup includes both petrol and diesel options to cater to different driving preferences. The powerful 3.0-litre six-cylinder D350 diesel engine, producing 350 hp and a formidable 700 Nm of torque, remains a key option, providing effortless performance and substantial towing capability. As mentioned, the entry-level S trim now gets the 3.0-litre six-cylinder P360 petrol engine, which delivers smooth and responsive power. All engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and Land Rover's legendary all-wheel-drive system. The acclaimed Terrain Response 2 system is also on board, ensuring the Discovery maintains its reputation for exceptional off-road prowess, including a water-wading capacity of 900mm.
What This Means for Buyers
By restructuring the Discovery range into a clearer S, Landmark, and Tempest hierarchy, Land Rover has simplified the decision-making process for potential buyers. The Landmark Edition, in particular, offers a compelling package of unique design elements and practical features that distinguish it from its German rivals like the Audi Q7, BMW X5, and Mercedes-Benz GLE. While Land Rover India has listed the new variant on its official website, pricing for the Landmark Edition has not yet been announced. However, it is expected to be positioned competitively within the existing price bracket of the Discovery range, offering a distinct choice for those seeking a premium family SUV that blends heritage-inspired style with modern capability.
