Reliance Industries has announced a staggering investment plan for AI infrastructure, with a significant portion dedicated to green-energy-powered data centres. Similarly, the Adani Group has committed enormous capital to develop AI data centres, partnering with global tech giants like Google. The Tata Group, through entities like TCS, is collaborating with OpenAI to develop its own large-scale AI infrastructure, aiming to serve a global and domestic client base. This coordinated surge in investment signals a clear ambition: to ensure India is not just a consumer of AI, but a foundational builder of it.
The Government Gambit: Sovereign and Secure
A significant driver of this infrastructure boom is the pursuit of government contracts and the broader goal of creating 'sovereign AI'.
