The most immediate change is a complete visual overhaul. Spy shots reveal the next-generation 790 Adventure will sport a much slimmer and more modern look. The controversial low-slung fuel tanks of the current model appear to be gone, replaced with a more traditional
tank design that flows into sleeker side panels. Up front, a new compact single-projector LED headlight replaces the previous, larger assembly, giving the bike a cleaner, more aggressive face inspired by KTM's Dakar Rally-winning machines. The entire profile appears less bulky, with a more exposed rear subframe and a new single-piece seat that replaces the current split design, likely aimed at improving rider comfort and movement on long journeys.
The Tried-and-True 799cc Heart
While the bodywork is all new, the heart of the beast remains familiar. The prototype is built around the proven 799cc LC8c parallel-twin engine. This motor is expected to produce around 95 horsepower and 87 Nm of torque, figures nearly identical to the current model. Rather than chasing peak horsepower against larger rivals, KTM seems to be doubling down on the 799's reputation for lively, accessible performance. The decision to retain the engine suggests a focus on balance, reliability, and maintaining a clear distinction from its more powerful 890 Adventure sibling. Any updates will likely focus on meeting new emissions standards and refining torque delivery for even smoother real-world rideability.
Smarter Tech and Upgraded Hardware
The redesign isn't just skin deep. The test mule was spotted with significant hardware upgrades. The suspension appears to be a WP Apex setup, both front and rear, which would be a notable improvement for handling on and off the road. The braking system also gets an overhaul, with new WP-branded calipers visible on the prototype—part of KTM's move to bring more component development in-house. The rider cockpit is expected to feature the brand's modern 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, enabling features like turn-by-turn navigation, ride modes, and cruise control. This suite of electronics will likely include lean-sensitive traction control and cornering ABS, complete with an off-road mode.
