A Welcome Relief for Festive Travel
The period between October and November sees a significant surge in travel across India as people head home to celebrate with their families. To ease the inevitable rush on one of the country's busiest routes, Central Railway has announced a special weekly
service connecting Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) with Bengaluru's Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT). This move is expected to provide much-needed capacity for passengers planning their festive journeys, offering a convenient and direct travel option during the peak season. The service is scheduled to make seven trips in each direction throughout its run.
Complete Train Schedule and Timings
To help you plan your travel with precision, here are the detailed timings for the new service. Train No. 01013 will depart from CSMT Mumbai at 12:35 AM every Saturday, starting from October 10 and running until November 21, 2026. It is scheduled to arrive at SMVT Bengaluru at 11:55 PM on the same day, making the total journey time approximately 23 hours and 20 minutes. For the return journey, Train No. 01014 will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 4:30 AM every Sunday, from October 11 to November 22, 2026. It will reach CSMT Mumbai at 4:05 AM the following day.
Route and Key Stoppages
The special train is designed to connect several key towns and cities across Maharashtra and Karnataka, providing accessibility for a wide range of passengers. The service will have 24 designated halts between its origin and destination. Major stoppages include Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Lonavala, and Pune in Maharashtra. Further along the route, the train will also halt at important stations such as Satara, Sangli, Miraj, Belagavi, Dharwad, and SSS Hubballi, before continuing through Davangere, Arsikere, and Tumakuru on its way to Bengaluru.
Coach Composition and Amenities
This special service is configured as a fully air-conditioned train, ensuring a comfortable journey for long-distance travellers. The train will consist of 22 coaches in total. This includes two AC 2-Tier coaches and a substantial eighteen AC 3-Tier coaches, catering to different budget preferences while maintaining a comfortable travel environment. The rake will also include two Luggage-cum-Guard-cum-Generator Vans. Passengers are advised to check their ticket details for exact coach positions and other specific information.

Given the high demand expected during the festive season, it is advisable to book tickets well in advance. Bookings for these special trains, which operate on special charges, are available through all standard Indian Railways channels. Passengers can reserve their seats via the official IRCTC website (www.irctc.co.in) and the mobile app. Additionally, tickets can also be booked at all computerised reservation centres and through authorised travel agents. Travellers should ensure they have a valid, confirmed ticket before commencing their journey.
