safety, the Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) implements a special Monsoon Timetable every year, which is in effect from mid-June to late October. This involves reducing train speeds in vulnerable sections prone to landslides and waterlogging, sometimes from 120 kmph down to 75 kmph. These necessary precautions inevitably lead to longer journey times, altered schedules, and sometimes, reduced frequency of services for popular trains.
The 2026 Monsoon Timetable is in Effect
For 2026, the monsoon timetable is active from June 15 to October 20. This affects over 100 trains passing through the Konkan route. For instance, the popular Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express, which usually runs six days a week, may operate on a reduced tri-weekly schedule during this period. Other key trains, including the Tejas Express and Mangaluru-bound services, also see revised timings and frequencies. These changes are not just about departure times; some services are short-terminated at intermediate stations like Dadar or Thane due to operational constraints or ongoing work, requiring passengers to be extra vigilant about the final destination listed for their specific travel date.

Given the dynamic nature of train services during this season, simply having a booked ticket is not enough. More importantly, use official channels to check the live running status of your train on the day of your journey. Sudden regulations, where a train is held at a station for some time, or diversions due to track conditions can happen with little warning. What If Your Train is Cancelled or Delayed?

If it is delayed by more than three hours, passengers who choose not to travel can also claim a full refund by filing a Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) through the IRCTC website or at the station.
