Starting September 15, 2026, Indian passport holders can enter Thailand without a visa for a period of up to 30 days. This is a change from the more generous 60-day visa-free stay that was in place since 2024. For travellers planning a typical week-long

How Malaysia's Offer Compares

This puts its standard offering on par with Thailand's new rule. A key requirement for Malaysia is the mandatory completion of the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online within three days before arrival. Unlike the Thai visa, the 30-day visa-free stay in Malaysia cannot be extended from within the country. Sri Lanka's Free ETA Scheme
Sri Lanka has also made travel easier for Indians by implementing a free Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) scheme. While travellers still need to apply for the ETA online before their trip, the government has waived the fees for tourists from India and 39 other countries. For those seeking a longer escape, several countries offer more generous visa-free periods for Indian passport holders. Mauritius and Seychelles, for instance, both allow a visa-free stay of up to 90 days. The Maldives offers a free visa on arrival, but the stay is limited to 30 days. Senegal in West Africa also provides a 90-day visa-free window for Indians. These destinations are ideal for travellers who want to immerse themselves more deeply in the local culture or have a more relaxed, unhurried vacation without worrying about an impending visa deadline.
