Enhanced Connectivity for Mumbai
Mumbai will see a significant boost in connectivity with two new services originating from the Prayagraj region in Uttar Pradesh. The first is the Prayagraj-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Amrit Bharat Express, a weekly service that will pass through key
stations like Satna, Jabalpur, Itarsi, Bhusaval, and Kalyan. Another service, the Subedarganj-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Amrit Bharat Express, will also run weekly, connecting centres such as Jabalpur, Itarsi, and Nashik Road. A third major route, the Gorakhpur-Bandra Terminus Amrit Bharat Express, will provide a much-needed link between eastern UP and Mumbai, benefiting countless passengers. This weekly train will halt at major junctions including Kanpur Central, Agra Fort, Kota, Vadodara, and Surat before reaching Bandra.
New Telangana-UP Link
A major new artery of travel will be established between Telangana and Uttar Pradesh with the Charlapalli-Gorakhpur Amrit Bharat Express. This weekly service is set to connect major hubs across a vast stretch of central India. Key stoppages on this route include Kazipet, Peddapalli, Nagpur, Bhopal, Bina, Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi, Kanpur Central, and Lucknow, before terminating in Gorakhpur. This train is expected to facilitate easier travel for students, professionals, and pilgrims moving between the southern and northern states. The service will depart from Charlapalli on Fridays and from Gorakhpur on Sundays.
Gorakhpur Gets Two New Services
Gorakhpur, a major city in eastern Uttar Pradesh, is a significant beneficiary of this announcement, with two new trains. Besides the service to Charlapalli, the Gorakhpur-Bandra Amrit Bharat Express will improve connectivity to Mumbai. Another new service, the Gorakhpur-Delhi Amrit Bharat Express, will provide a new weekly link to the national capital. This train will pass through important towns like Basti, Gonda, Sitapur, Bareilly, and Moradabad, offering a new, affordable option for one of the country's busiest travel corridors.
Connecting Prayagraj to Gujarat
A new weekly train, the Prayagraj-Udhna Amrit Bharat Express, will directly connect the holy city of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh with Udhna (Surat) in Gujarat. This service will traverse through several states, with key stops including Fatehpur, Govindpuri, Tundla, Agra, Kota, Ratlam, and Vadodara. The introduction of this route is expected to foster economic and cultural ties between the regions, providing a convenient mode of transport for traders, tourists, and migrant workers.
A Pan-Indian Connection: Dhanbad to Coimbatore
Perhaps the most ambitious of the new services is the Dhanbad-Coimbatore Amrit Bharat Express. This train will create a massive corridor connecting the coal capital of Dhanbad in Jharkhand with the industrial hub of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. Spanning thousands of kilometres, its proposed route includes major junctions like Gaya, Prayagraj Chheoki, Jabalpur, Nagpur, Vijayawada, Renigunta, Katpadi, and Salem. This weekly service will be a lifeline for people travelling between eastern, central, and southern India.
About the Amrit Bharat Express
The Amrit Bharat Express trains are a relatively new category of service introduced by Indian Railways. They are designed to provide a comfortable and modern travel experience for long-distance passengers at an affordable price point. These trains are targeted at lower and lower-middle-income travellers, offering an alternative to more premium services without compromising on essential amenities. They feature non-air-conditioned coaches and are known for their push-pull locomotive configuration, which allows for faster acceleration and deceleration, thereby reducing travel time.
