The Most Powerful Urus Ever
The new Urus SE Performante is now officially the fastest and most powerful SUV ever produced by the Italian manufacturer. It builds on the foundation of the recently launched Urus SE, which introduced a plug-in hybrid powertrain to the lineup. That model
pairs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor for a hefty 789 horsepower. The SE Performante takes that potent recipe and refines it, boosting the total output to an astonishing 801 hp (812 CV) and 1,000 Nm of torque. This power increase, though modest, contributes to its blistering acceleration, clocking 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, a tenth of a second quicker than the standard SE. The top speed remains an electronically limited 312 km/h.
The 'Performante' Diet: Shedding 32 Kilograms
The core of the Performante philosophy has always been lightweight engineering, and this new model is no exception. It cuts exactly 32 kilograms compared to the standard Urus SE, bringing its curb weight to 2,473 kg. This is a significant engineering feat, considering the inherent weight of a hybrid system. The weight loss comes from a strategic and extensive use of lightweight materials. A new titanium Akrapovic exhaust system, which features separated pipes for each cylinder bank to improve gas flow and sound, accounts for over 10 kg of the savings on its own. The rest is achieved through the widespread application of carbon fibre for the hood, roof, side skirts, and rear diffuser. Even the interior contributes, with new 'Corsa Tex' upholstery saving 2.7 kg over traditional leather.
Smarter Aerodynamics and Sharper Handling
Beyond just shedding weight, the SE Performante has been honed for superior handling and aerodynamic efficiency. The exterior design is more aggressive, featuring new spoilers, larger air intakes, and the biggest rear diffuser ever fitted to a Urus. These changes result in a 23% increase in downforce compared to the standard SE, while simultaneously reducing aerodynamic drag by 3%. A key innovation is the 'S-duct' integrated into the front bumper and hood, which channels air to increase downforce on the front axle and improve engine cooling. The chassis also receives major upgrades, including a new dual-chamber air suspension system that claims to reduce body roll by 55% during high-speed cornering. The car also inherits the advanced '6D' drive computer from Lamborghini's supercars, allowing for finer control over the vehicle's dynamics.
A New Rally Mode for More Fun
In a nod to the adventurous spirit of the original Urus Performante, the new SE version introduces a dedicated 'Rally' driving mode. This setting is specifically calibrated to deliver maximum excitement and control on loose surfaces like gravel. It joins the existing Strada, Sport, and Corsa modes, as well as the EV mode that allows for over 60 km of silent, electric-only driving. This versatility is central to the SE Performante's character: it can be a quiet, zero-emissions commuter one moment and a ferocious, all-terrain performance machine the next. The system also features a new Integrated Power Brake (IPB) system that improves braking power by 10% compared to the previous Performante.
