The Mulliner Philosophy
For those unfamiliar, Mulliner is to Bentley what a Savile Row tailor is to a suit. It is the historic coachbuilding and commissioning division responsible for bringing clients' most ambitious visions to life. While a standard Bentley is already a statement
of exquisite taste, a Mulliner creation is a one-of-one masterpiece, a conversation between the owner's imagination and the artisans in Crewe, England. This goes far beyond selecting from a predefined options list; it involves co-creating a vehicle that is truly unique, from custom paint finishes and rare interior veneers to coachbuilt bodies. Recent years have seen a surge in demand for this level of personalization, with a significant majority of Bentley customers now engaging Mulliner to add unique touches to their cars.
A Supercar as the Canvas
The canvas for this latest showcase is no ordinary car. It's the Bentley Continental GT Supersports, the most driver-focused and potent version of the iconic grand tourer. With production limited to just 500 examples, the Supersports is already an exclusive machine. It trades the brand's signature all-wheel drive for a purist-pleasing rear-wheel-drive layout, powered by a formidable twin-turbo V8 engine. Its two-seat cabin and aggressive aerodynamics signal a clear performance intent, making it the perfect base for a design package that is equally bold and uncompromising. The Supersports is not just a luxury car; it's a supercar with a Bentley badge, blending raw power with refined craftsmanship.
The Art of the Asymmetric Fade
The centerpiece of Mulliner's new 'Design Theme' is a feature never before seen on a production Bentley: a side-to-side paint fade. Rather than a traditional two-tone split, the colour seamlessly transitions across the width of the car's bodywork. This radical, asymmetric livery is designed to be a bold statement and will make its public debut at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Mulliner has curated three distinct themes to showcase this technique. 'Dragon' features a fiery Dragon Red fading into a deep Black Crystal. 'Electric' offers a more modern combination of Electric Blue blending into Dark Sapphire. For a more understated but equally complex choice, 'Brodgar' provides a contemporary mix of Pale Brodgar fading into its darker namesake shade.
A Driver-Centric Cockpit
The daring asymmetry of the exterior is mirrored within the two-seat cockpit, reinforcing the car's driver-focused nature. Inside, the cabin adopts a two-tone layout where the brighter, more vibrant colour is reserved for the driver's seat and surrounding trim. The passenger side is finished in the darker, more subdued tone. For example, in the 'Dragon' theme, the driver is enveloped in a bold Hotspur red, while the passenger's seat is a classic Beluga black. This unconventional choice creates a visual cockpit that puts the driver squarely at the center of the experience, a subtle but powerful design statement that separates the Supersports from any other Bentley.
Details That Define Distinction
Mulliner's work is defined by its meticulous attention to detail, and this Design Theme is no exception. The package is more than just the paint and upholstery. An off-center highlight stripe runs the length of the car, aligned with the passenger seat to visually counterbalance the side-to-side fade. The front grille features a painted number '8', another nod to performance heritage. Furthermore, accent pinstripes are carefully applied to the car's carbon fibre diffusers, fender blades, and side sills, tying the entire visual package together. These curated elements ensure that from any angle, the car is identifiable as a special Mulliner commission.
