Redefining Performance with Hybrid Power
At the core of the new Urus SE Performante is a formidable plug-in hybrid powertrain that pushes the boundaries of what an SUV can do. It pairs a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine with a potent electric motor, delivering a staggering combined output
of 801 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. This makes it the most powerful Urus ever produced, surpassing both the standard 789-horsepower Urus SE and the previous-generation non-hybrid Performante, which produced 657 horsepower. The result is blistering acceleration, with the vehicle capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and reaching a top speed of 312 km/h. The recalibrated eight-speed automatic transmission ensures that power is delivered with immediate and smooth response across the rev range.
A Revolution in Handling and Comfort
Perhaps the most significant evolution in the SE Performante is its suspension system. Departing from the firm steel springs of its predecessor, Lamborghini has introduced a new AURA dual-chamber air suspension. This advanced system is a game-changer, designed to offer the best of both worlds. On the track, it dramatically reduces body roll by as much as 55%, providing sharper turn-in and greater stability. On the road, it reduces vibrations by 25% compared to the last Performante, offering a level of comfort previously unseen in a model this focused. This dual personality is managed by a sophisticated '6D' sensor, borrowed from the limited-edition Temerario supercar, which constantly analyzes the vehicle's movements to optimize chassis response in real-time.
Lighter, Smarter Aerodynamics
True to the Performante ethos, weight reduction and aerodynamic efficiency were paramount. Despite the added mass of a hybrid system, engineers managed to make the SE Performante 32 kg lighter than the standard Urus SE. This was achieved through the extensive use of carbon fiber for major body panels, including the hood, roof, bumpers, and rear diffuser. A new titanium exhaust system, developed with Akrapovič, not only saves 10 kg but also provides a more distinct and powerful engine note. The vehicle's exterior has been completely resculpted to manage airflow. A new front splitter and a vented hood work together to increase downforce, while redesigned spoilers and the largest diffuser ever fitted to a Urus improve high-speed stability. These changes increase total downforce by 23% over the standard SE while also reducing aerodynamic drag.
The Dual-Hearted Super SUV
The plug-in hybrid system does more than just add power; it adds versatility. Thanks to a 25.9 kWh battery, the Urus SE Performante can travel for over 60 kilometers on purely electric power, making quiet city driving or short commutes possible without using a drop of fuel. The driving experience is highly customizable through a range of modes. In addition to the standard Strada, Sport, and Corsa settings, the Performante introduces a new Rally mode, specifically calibrated to deliver maximum excitement and control on loose or unpaved surfaces. This, combined with its ability to switch from a silent EV to a roaring track weapon, solidifies the SE Performante's status as a super SUV for every possible occasion.
