It was acquired by the royal family of Patiala and became their tranquil summer home, affectionately known as Patiala House. This transition from a colonial outpost to a royal sanctuary added a new dimension to its identity, making it a silent witness to the changing tides of Indian history. For years, it hosted aristocrats and dignitaries before falling into a state of neglect.

In 2003, the Bahri family acquired the estate, not just as property, but as a piece of history worth saving. They embarked on an extensive and thoughtful restoration project, aiming to preserve the soul of the old-world structure while infusing it with modern comforts. The result is a boutique homestay where every corner tells a story, from handcrafted wooden details and vintage accents to the panoramic views from its suites. Neighbouring Heritage: Oak Grove School
The castle’s location is made even more significant by its proximity to another historic landmark: Oak Grove School. Founded in 1888 and run by the Indian Railways, this prestigious residential school occupies a sprawling 256-acre estate in Jharipani. The school itself has a fascinating history, having absorbed an even older institution, the Fairlawn school, in 1894.
