In a significant nod to its growing global appeal, Mumbai has debuted among the world's leading destinations for a 'workcation'. The city is the only Indian entry in the 2026 Work from Anywhere Index, compiled by the International Workplace Group (IWG).
The report, now in its fourth year, evaluates cities on their suitability for professionals who want to combine remote work with travel. Mumbai secured a spot with an impressive score of 77, ranking ahead of major hubs like London and Miami. The top of the list was claimed by Bangkok, followed by Tokyo and Barcelona, placing Mumbai in esteemed company.
The Workcation Phenomenon Explained

It is a deliberate blend of productive work and immersive travel, where professionals relocate to a new destination for a few weeks or months without taking time off. In fact, a separate report from Cushman & Wakefield gives India a perfect score on its flex workspace maturity index, ranking it higher than established markets like the US and UK. This robust ecosystem of professional workspaces makes it easier than ever for remote workers to be productive. However, the report also noted areas for improvement, with Mumbai losing points on broadband speed and quality, and the availability of local events.
