At the heart of this new beast, the Urus SE Performante, is a plug-in hybrid powertrain that redefines performance. It pairs a formidable 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with a permanent-magnet electric motor to deliver a staggering combined output of 801
horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. This makes it the most powerful Urus ever produced. The power translates into blistering acceleration, rocketing the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. While its predecessor, the non-hybrid Performante, was already a titan, this new model adds 144 horsepower to the equation. It ultimately reaches a top speed of 312 km/h, securing its place as the fastest production SUV in the world.
A Masterclass in Weight Reduction
To earn the 'Performante' name, adding power is only half the story; shedding weight is crucial. Lamborghini embarked on a meticulous diet for the Urus SE Performante, managing to cut 32 kg compared to the standard Urus SE. This was achieved through the extensive use of lightweight carbon fiber for major components like the bonnet, roof, wheel arches, and rear diffuser. A significant portion of the weight savings, over 10 kg, comes from a new standard-fit titanium Akrapovič sports exhaust system. This system not only reduces weight but is engineered to produce a richer, more exhilarating engine note.
Unleashing a Wilder Side
What truly makes this Urus 'wilder' are the dynamic enhancements designed for maximum driver engagement. A key addition is the new 'Rally' mode, joining the existing Strada, Sport, and Corsa settings. This mode is specifically calibrated for thrilling performance on low-grip surfaces, making the SUV more agile and fun to drive on dirt or rough roads. The chassis and suspension have also been overhauled. A new dual-chamber air suspension system significantly reduces body roll during hard cornering and cuts down vibrations, offering a wider range between aggressive track performance and daily driving comfort. The braking system has also been upgraded for more power and responsiveness.
Designed for Dominance
The design of the Urus SE Performante is a clear statement of intent, where form aggressively follows function. The increased use of exposed carbon fiber gives it a visually distinct and menacing look. Aerodynamic efficiency has been enhanced with a new front splitter, air curtains, and a prominent rear spoiler that increases downforce. These elements work in synergy to improve stability at high speeds and enhance cooling for the brakes and engine. Inside, the cockpit is driver-focused, featuring lightweight materials like Alcantara and exclusive 'Performante' branding on the displays and seats to complete the high-performance feel.
