A Taste of Pujo in Every Bite
This festive season, Starbucks is capturing the essence of Durga Puja with a limited-edition menu designed exclusively for Kolkata. Titled 'Aamar Pujo, Aamar Starbucks', the campaign aims to connect with the city's residents on a deeper cultural level.
The initiative is a nod to the rich culinary heritage of Bengal, which is an inseparable part of the Pujo celebrations. By infusing beloved local flavours into its global offerings, the coffeehouse chain is creating a new way for Kolkatans to experience the festival's gastronomic delights. The menu is a thoughtful blend of savoury and sweet, designed to evoke nostalgia while offering a fresh twist.
What’s on the Special Menu?
The star attractions are creative interpretations of classic Bengali dishes. The menu features savoury items like the Kosha Mangsho Roll, which wraps the iconic slow-cooked mutton dish in a convenient form. Other non-vegetarian options include a Shorshe Chicken Burger, a Bhetki Bhaja Sandwich, and a Chingri Turnover. For vegetarians, the Aloo Posto Burger transforms the quintessential Bengali comfort dish of potatoes in a poppy seed paste into a modern handheld meal. The desserts are equally inventive, with a Gurer Sandesh Flan and a Kalakand Pie reimagining traditional sweets. To complete the experience, the beverage list includes a Saffron Latte and a Choco Saffron Frappuccino.
A Blend of Culture and Commerce
This move by Starbucks is part of a larger trend where global brands are localising their products to resonate with regional tastes and traditions. In a market like India, with its vast cultural diversity, such initiatives are a savvy business strategy. For Durga Puja, a festival that UNESCO has recognised as an 'Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity', food is central to the celebration. By launching a Pujo-themed menu, Starbucks does more than just sell coffee and snacks; it participates in the city's cultural dialogue. According to TATA Starbucks Head of Product and Marketing, Mitali Maheshwari, the goal is to bring beloved regional flavours to the signature Starbucks experience and be a part of the connections and celebrations that make Pujo special. This approach helps the global brand feel more accessible and integrated into the local community.
Where and When to Find It
This special festive menu is a limited-time offering, available across all 13 Starbucks outlets in Kolkata.
